Dr. Augusto Geri is a Senior Fellow in International and Public Affairs at Brown University, affiliated with the Watson Institute, the Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice (CSSJ), and other global institutions. Her work focuses on epistemologies of practice, science policy in the Global South, and the interplay between indigenous/subjugated knowledges and technosciences. She has co-convened Brown’s BIARI institutes and leads public humanities projects like "Red, Black & Green: Botanical Interactions between Enslaved Africans and Indigenous Communities."

Research Interests:
Dr. Geri examines knowledge systems in pluralist societies, particularly in Southern Africa, Brazil, and the Caribbean. She explores black transnationalism, the role of visuality/orality/digitality in diasporic movements, and the political-epistemic work of social movements like the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and Brazil’s Movimento de Pescador@s Artesenais. Recent projects include analyzing Bahian fishing communities’ digital practices and botanical exchanges between enslaved Africans and Indigenous groups.
