Augusto Buchweitz is an Associate Professor of Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut, with affiliations at PUCRS Brain Institute and Haskins Laboratories. His research focuses on early literacy and brain development in underrepresented populations, particularly in Latin and Central America.
He developed the Brazilian Portuguese version of GraphoGame and studies bilingualism, dyslexia, and the effects of exposure to violence on brain function. His neuroimaging research examines reading networks, emotion processing, and cognitive development.
Educational background includes PhD from Federal University of Santa Catarina and postdoctoral training at Carnegie Mellon University. He serves on Brazil's National Council of Education for Early and Elementary Education.
