معرفی
Audrey van der Meer is a Professor of Neuropsychology at NTNU's Department of Psychology within the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Edinburgh (1992) and leads the Neuroscience Development Laboratory (Nu-Lab) at Dragvoll alongside her husband, Prof. Ruud van der Weel. Her research focuses on early childhood development (0-3 years), particularly brain plasticity and perceptual-motor integration using EEG.
Key areas include infant visual motion perception, prospective control mechanisms, and the impact of motor stimulation (e.g., baby swimming) on cortical activity. She collaborates extensively with colleagues like Seth Bonsu Agyei and Stefania Rasulo on studies involving preterm infants and EEG analysis. Recent work emphasizes handwriting's cognitive benefits over typewriting, with implications for classroom learning strategies.
Publications (2021-2025) highlight longitudinal studies on optic flow perception, neural connectivity during occlusion events, and EEG-based BCI applications for infant monitoring. She actively supervises graduate students in quantitative brain research from ecological neuroscience perspectives.
