Dr. Audrey Meador is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at West Texas A&M University's College of Engineering. She holds a B.S. (2005) and M.S. (2010) in Mathematics from WTAMU, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Mathematics Education from Texas Tech University. Her research focuses on STEM education equity, particularly in recruitment/retention strategies for underrepresented groups, assistive technology in math instruction, and pre-service teacher development.
Teaching responsibilities include mathematics content courses for pre-service teachers and professional development programs for in-service educators. She has seven years of secondary school teaching experience and holds a Texas teaching certificate for grades 8-12 mathematics. Dr. Meador is actively involved in national organizations like the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA), contributing to committees at both institutional and national levels.
Her research explores intersections of instructional theories, rural STEM access, and inclusive pedagogy. Notable projects include NSF-funded initiatives to engage underrepresented students in computing disciplines and virtual number talks to enhance online mathematics teaching practices. Current work emphasizes leveraging technology to support diverse learners, including students with disabilities and transfer students.
Dr. Meador's scholarship bridges theory and practice, addressing challenges in teacher preparation and student engagement across K-12 and higher education settings. Her recent studies investigate the impact of peer-led learning, math anxiety interventions, and hybrid learning models in rural communities.
