Audrey J. Jaeger is the W. Dallas Herring Professor of Community College Education and founding Executive Director of the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research at NC State University’s College of Education. She holds the titles of Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor and Faculty Scholar. Her work focuses on advancing equitable postsecondary education through research on community colleges, leadership development, student transfer pathways, and gender equity.
Jaeger has secured over $43 million in grants, including a $25 million 10-year investment from the John M. Belk Endowment. She leads initiatives to strengthen North Carolina’s 58 community colleges via data-driven strategies for institutional improvement and social mobility.
Her research spans 20+ years, yielding over 80 peer-reviewed articles and 220 presentations. Awards include NC State’s highest honor, the Holladay Medal (2022), and recognition for teaching, engagement, and mentorship across multiple national organizations.
Professional affiliations include memberships in the Academy of Outstanding Teachers, Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension and Engagement, and Research Leadership Academy. She holds a Ph.D. from New York University.
