Dr. Audra Shadforth is a Lecturer at Griffith University's School of Environment and Science since 2019, with concurrent roles as Visiting Scientist at the Queensland Eye Institute since 2015. Her research focuses on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for ocular diseases, particularly age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences (QUT, 2015)
- BSc in Biochemistry (University of Queensland, 2008)
Her research explores choroidal vasculature wound healing mechanisms, three-dimensional in vitro models, and biomaterials like silk fibroin for retinal repair. Articles span transcriptomic analysis of choroidal cells, MSC behavior, and surface chemistry optimization for ocular therapies.
Key scientific awards include the 2025 Pro Vice Chancellor Excellence in Health & Safety Award, 2024 Dean's Commendation for Teaching, and 2023 Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
