Atthaphon Mumi

Atthaphon "Peep" Mumi is a tenured Lecturer in Management and Entrepreneurship at Mahasarakham University in Thailand. He earned his Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the Manning School of Business, becoming its first graduate. His research bridges social media and entrepreneurial processes, focusing on how digital platforms enable opportunity recognition.

Research Focus: Mumi's dissertation, "Social Media and Entrepreneurial Process: An Effectuation Perspective," pioneers empirical analysis of social media's role in entrepreneurship. He surveyed 200 artists at Lowell’s Western Avenue Studios and participants in the DifferenceMaker program, revealing significant correlations between social media activity and opportunity generation. Platforms like Facebook and Twitter were central to his findings.

Academic Engagement: Mumi presented his work at major conferences including the Academy of Management, Eastern Academy of Management, and the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. His committee included Assoc. Prof. Yi Yang, Asst. Prof. Michael Ciuchta, Assoc. Prof. Kim Merriman, and Asst. Prof. Michael Obal.

Future Aspirations: Committed to advancing entrepreneurship in Thailand, Mumi plans to apply his Ph.D. research to support startups and small businesses, aiming to enhance economic outcomes through digital innovation.
