Athina Ioannou is a Senior Lecturer in Business Analytics at the University of Surrey, affiliated with the Surrey Business School and the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Brunel University London (2018), an MSc in Business Information Systems from City University London (2013), and a BSc in Finance and Accounting from the University of Macedonia, Greece (2011). Her research focuses on privacy and data management, IT innovation adoption, technostress mitigation through mindfulness, and machine learning applications in business analytics.
Key research projects include the EPSRC-funded PriVELT project (2018–2021), addressing privacy-aware personal data management in leisure travel. She explores themes like smart tourism privacy, IoT adoption challenges in retail, and behavioral responses to surveillance during health crises. Her work bridges technology ethics and organizational practice, emphasizing user-centric privacy frameworks and mindfulness interventions.
