Athanasios G. Malamos

Athanasios G. Malamos is Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Hellenic Mediterranean University (since 2019). Previously, he served at the Technological Educational Institute of Crete (2002-2019) and the National Technical University of Athens (1997-2002). He holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Crete (1992), and MSc (1995) and PhD (2000) degrees from the Technical University of Crete.

His research focuses on e-learning technologies, multimedia services, Web3D, and Virtual Reality. He leads the Spatial Sound interest group in the Web3D Consortium, contributes to W3C standards, and has developed libraries for the X3DOM platform. His work emphasizes immersive technologies and networked media systems.
