معرفی
Ata Martin Lawson is a Research Professor at the Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry Research Unit (URCOM) within the Faculty of Science and Technology at University of Le Havre Normandy. His research focuses on developing novel heterocyclic compounds with potential therapeutic applications.
Dr. Lawson earned his PhD from Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble, France in 2002, where he worked on aurone analogs' synthesis as potent P-glycoprotein inhibitors. After completing his PhD in 2006 from University of Limoges on rotenoids and natural polyphenols of the Fabaceae family, he worked as an Assistant Professor at University of Reims before securing a permanent position at Le Havre University in 2009.
His research interests center on natural product chemistry (phytochemistry), synthesis of novel heterocycles using chromone derivatives through Diversity Oriented Synthesis strategy, and development of hybrid molecules with diverse biological activities. Key areas include heterocyclic synthesis, domino reactions, extraction and chemical modification of natural products, and synthesis of compounds with anticancer, antibacterial, antibiofilm and antifungal properties.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on antimicrobial compounds, particularly novel triazole conjugates and heterocyclic systems targeting bacterial pathogens and biofilms. His work combines synthetic organic chemistry with biological evaluation and computational modeling to develop new therapeutic agents.
Dr. Lawson has maintained consistent research output with publications in high-impact journals including Chemistry - A European Journal, Journal of Organic Chemistry, and Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry. His collaborative network spans multiple institutions, with frequent co-authorship with colleagues at University of Le Havre and international partners.
He leads research within Axis 1: Sustainable Chemistry and Health at URCOM, focusing on developing environmentally conscious chemical approaches with therapeutic applications. His laboratory employs diverse synthetic methodologies including domino reactions, N-acyliminium chemistry, and metal-catalyzed transformations to create molecular diversity for biological screening.
