معرفی
Astrid Weiss is an Associate Professor at the Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien), based in the Department of Human-Centered Technology within the Faculty of Informatics. Her research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), emphasizing ethical, user-centered design principles. She holds a PhD in social sciences and a venia docendi in HCI, with expertise in methodologies of empirical social research and applied statistics.
Education: Master's in Sociology, PhD in Social Sciences and HCI, and habilitation in HRI at TU Wien. Her habilitation work advocates for epistemological diversity in HRI, moving beyond traditional experimental approaches.
Research Interests: User involvement in technology design, trust dynamics in HRI, Industry 4.0 robotics, and ethical implications of embodied AI. She has led projects like Caring Robots, MAXimizeMe, and Integrative Robot Personality Research, exploring societal acceptance and practical applications of robots in public spaces and industry.
Publications: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles in top venues like ACM/IEEE HRI, RO-MAN, and journals such as International Journal of Social Robotics. Recent work addresses trust in B2B platforms, gender sensitivity in robot design, and vulnerability in human-robot trust scenarios.
- Awards: Member of Junge Akademie (2018), SharedSpace Richter Program (2018), Vision4HRC Firnberg Program (2013), and recognized as one of 25 Women to Know in Robotics (2013).
- Grants: Austrian Science Fund (FWF), WWTF, and industry collaborations (e.g., Arbeiterkammer Vienna).
- Teaching: Courses on Human-Robot Interaction, Scientific Research Methods, and Interdisciplinary Projects in Data Science.
Labs/Teams: Active in TU Wien’s Human-Centered Technology group, collaborating with industry partners like PROFACTOR GmbH and Infineon Technologies. Her team explores real-world applications of cobots and participatory design methods for care robots.
