Astrid Würtz Rasmussen is a Professor at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, Aarhus University. She is a member of the research group on 'Motherhood Penalties' and has contributed extensively to applied microeconomics, family economics, and labour economics.

Her research explores:
- Quality of early childhood education and school outcomes
- Human capital formation and child quantity-quality trade-offs
- Long-term effects of parental leave and divorces on children and parents
- Labor market penalties for parenthood, including wage gaps and intergenerational leave transmission
Recent publications focus on motherhood timing during university studies, public-private sector wage disparities, and IVF-based analysis of child penalties. She has supervised PhD, master’s, and bachelor’s theses and participated in workshops on family economics and motherhood penalties.
Her awards include a grant from the Otto Mønsteds Fond (2006). She has also provided peer reviews for journals like the Scandinavian Journal of Public Health and Economic Journal, and her work has been featured in media outlets such as The Economist and P4 Østjyllands Nyheder.
