Astrid Edwards is a Lecturer in the Associate Degree of Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT University’s School of Culture and Communication. She is also the host of The Garret, a podcast exploring the Australian publishing industry. Her research focuses on barriers to publishing climate fiction in Australia, as detailed in her PhD at the University of Melbourne. She previously served as Chair of the Melbourne Writers Festival.
Her academic background includes supervisory collaboration with scholars Jeff Sparrow and Sybil Nolan. Edwards’ work intersects climate communication, literary analysis, and media studies, with a focus on how climate fiction navigates sociocultural challenges in Australia.
