Assylbek Nurgabdeshov is an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Sciences and affiliated with the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly focusing on education and innovation in Kazakhstan. He actively publishes on topics such as public sector digital transformation, strategic management in higher education institutions, and R&D offshoring. Notably, he played a pivotal role in establishing Heriot-Watt University's branch in Kazakhstan, as highlighted in press coverage.
His research interests include public administration modernization, strategic formulation under uncertainty, and international business practices. He emphasizes innovative frameworks for governance and education systems, leveraging text mining and systematic reviews to analyze trends in business ecosystems and global HRM challenges. He has delivered invited talks on research methodologies, such as a 2020 presentation on publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
