Assaf Benchetrit

Assaf Benchetrit is an Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance at the University of New Hampshire. His roles include teaching courses such as Choreography, Dance Pedagogy, and Ballet, and he has held faculty positions at Yale University, Columbia University, and others. He combines a distinguished career as a professional dancer with academic leadership.

Education: Joint B.S. in Computer Science and B.F.A. in Dance (Montclair State University), M.F.A. in Dance (Hollins/ADF/Frankfurt). His research focuses on ballet choreography, dance filmography, and technology integration in dance.

Research interests include innovative uses of computer software in dance performance and education. His artistic work spans residencies like Phase VI with the Jerusalem Ballet (2018) and collaborations with Connecticut Ballet (2017).

Awarded the 'Remarkable Dancer' prize by the Israeli government during military service, he has performed globally with companies like The Joffrey Ballet and Israeli National Ballet Company.

Labs/Teams: Active in interdisciplinary projects at UNH’s Paul Creative Arts Center, blending dance with technology and film.
