Asli Ates is a doctoral researcher at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex, and part of the ERC-funded EMPOCI project under Prof. Karoline Rogge and Dr. Katherine Lovell. Her research focuses on the role of data and policies in accelerating sustainability transitions, particularly in interconnected electricity and mobility systems in the UK. She employs mixed-method approaches and experiments with natural language processing techniques for methodological innovation.
Education includes a BSc in Management Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (2011-2016) and an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex (2018-2019).
Research interests emphasize sustainability transitions, energy systems integration, and policy analysis. Her work bridges data governance and infrastructure systems to advance sustainable development goals.
As part of the EMPOCI project, she contributes to interdisciplinary research on policy frameworks for low-carbon transitions. She has collaborated across academia, private, and non-profit sectors, reflecting her commitment to impactful research.
