Asif Khowaja, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Brock University. He holds a PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Economics and Reproductive Health from the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on economic evaluation of healthcare interventions, quality improvement initiatives, and maternal/newborn health outcomes. Key areas include cost-effectiveness of community-based interventions, pandemic response strategies, and health technology assessment.
Education includes postdoctoral training and PhD at UBC, complemented by a strong background in global health economics. Professional affiliations include the Canadian Health Economics Association and Health Technology Assessment International.
Research highlights include evaluating province-wide quality improvement programs for sepsis and antipsychotic use reduction in long-term care, as well as studies on vaccination coverage and maternal health in Pakistan and sub-Saharan Africa. Recent work explores telemedicine applications, pandemic mental health support, and pediatric sepsis triage systems in Uganda.
