Ashtyn Terrell is a Researcher at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) within the Institute for Advanced Analytics and Security, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She specializes in cybersecurity threat analysis, information systems, and the intersection of cybersecurity with ethics, law, policy, and communication. Her work integrates humanities perspectives, particularly exploring how English literary concepts (Identity, Culture, Creativity, Communication, Perspective, Transformation, and Representation) can refine tech industry security policies.
Terrell is affiliated with the USM Game Studies Group, where she has published an interactive text-based game and is preparing two critical research papers. She is also a member of Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), emphasizing professional growth and technical expertise. She holds dual degrees: a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Cybersecurity and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English from USM.
Her research bridges technical cybersecurity challenges with interdisciplinary humanities frameworks, focusing on policy development and ethical implications in technology.
