Dr. Ashley York serves as an Associate Professor and RN-BSN Coordinator at the Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, Samford University. She holds a DNP in Nursing from Union University (TN), an MSN in Adult-Gerontology and Women’s Health Nursing from UAB, and a BSN from the University of Alabama. Her expertise spans palliative care, adult/gerontology nursing, emergency medicine, sleep medicine, and women’s health with a focus on menopause. She currently practices sleep medicine at Pulmonary Associates of the Southeast and volunteers at Sav-a-Life and Shades Mountain Baptist Church.
Her research emphasizes nursing education techniques, including online learning strategies and interprofessional collaboration. Notable awards include the 2024 Sigma Global Leadership Mentoring Cohort, 2021 Samford Interprofessional Fellowship, and 2018 Innovate Grant. She actively presents at national conferences on topics like menopause management, sleep disorders, and clinical judgment development.
York leads professional involvement as Treasurer of the Alabama League for Nursing and STTI Gamma Eta Chapter. Her educational contributions focus on fostering clinical readiness through active learning and simulation-based training, while her volunteer work integrates community health promotion and spiritual care.
