Mary Talbot Kendrick serves as an Assistant Professor at Samford University's Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, a position she joined in fall 2023. Her role focuses on undergraduate nursing education to address the nursing shortage and prepare students for contemporary healthcare challenges.
Her academic credentials include a BSN from the University of Alabama and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She maintains certifications as a Certified Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPNP-BC), and Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
Dr. Kendrick's research spans Medical-Surgical Nursing, Recruitment, Systems Thinking, Nursing Student and Staff Nurse Wellness, and Hospital Throughput. These interests emerged from seven years of clinical experience in adult medical-surgical hospital settings and leadership roles where she implemented patient flow improvement programs. Her work emphasizes practical healthcare system optimization and workforce development.
She received the UAB Medicine Clinical Nurse Excellence Award in 2023. Professional affiliations include:
