Ashley S. Bean

Ashley S. Bean, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine. She practices at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she provides emergency medical care and contributes to medical education and global health initiatives.

Her educational background includes undergraduate studies at Hendrix College, graduate work at Brown University, and medical training at UAMS, where she completed her medical degree, surgical internship, and residency in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Bean's research and academic interests focus on emergency medicine, point-of-care ultrasound, and global health. She has led and participated in numerous international medical service trips, particularly in Latin America and Haiti, and directs a rural clinic program in Limon, Honduras. She is deeply involved in training medical students through the Global Health and Service Honors Tract.

She is recognized as a Fellow of both the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), reflecting her professional excellence and contributions to the field.

Dr. Bean has held leadership roles including Director of Emergency Department Ultrasound Education (2004–2012) and Associate Course Director for the Global Health Honors Tract. She serves on the UAMS Advisory Board for the Office of Global Health and its Accreditation Committee. Additionally, she contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for the European Journal of Emergency Medicine and the African Journal of Emergency Medicine, and is active in ACEP’s Ambassadors Committee and SAEM’s International Outreach Task Force.
