Ashley Quinn is an Assistant Professor at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. She holds a Ph.D. from the same institution, supported by a Joseph Armand Bombardier SSHRC scholarship. Quinn advocates for systemic changes to address overrepresentation of Indigenous children in foster care, emphasizing culturally grounded practices and policy development.
Her research interests include reconciliation in child welfare, Indigenous dispute resolution models, and fostering cultural identity among Indigenous youth. Quinn has secured grants such as
- 'The Mental Health Outcomes of First Nations Youth in Foster Homes' (2025–2027)
- 'Becoming Ourselves: Foster parents' engagement in Indigenous children's cultural identity development' (2020–2024)
Her work highlights barriers faced by Indigenous students in health and human services education and integrates Indigenous epistemologies with Western research methods. Quinn teaches using wholistic, relational approaches to engage students in Indigenous worldviews.
