Ashley Michelle Burrell is a Lecturer in Law and Adjunct Faculty member at Columbia University's School of Law. She currently serves as Senior Counsel at the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, Inc., focusing on criminal justice reform, educational equity, and voting rights litigation. With over a decade of legal practice, she has tried more than a dozen cases as lead counsel and litigated 30 suppression hearings during her tenure as Assistant Federal Defender and Bronx Defenders attorney.

Research Interests: Her work centers on systemic criminal justice reform, racial disparities in education access, and litigation strategies for safeguarding voting rights under U.S. constitutional law. She integrates practical advocacy with teaching fieldwork on racial justice.
