Ashley B. Cole is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Oklahoma State University (OSU), with a focus on health inequities and mental health among American Indian/Alaska Native populations. She holds affiliations with the Health Promotion Research Center (University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center) and the Stephenson Cancer Center (Oklahoma City). Her academic background includes a PhD from the Oklahoma State University System (Aug 2018). She teaches courses such as Graduate Clinical Supervision (PSYC 6640) and Psychology of Prejudice and Discrimination (PSYC 4163).
Dr. Cole’s research examines substance use, mental health, and resilience within Indigenous communities, addressing topics like historical trauma, mindfulness, and culturally adapted interventions. She has received awards including the “Diverse Teaching Award” (OSU) and “Diversity Committee Member Award.” Her lab, COLE Lab, collaborates with national networks like the Native Children’s Research Exchange (NCRE) and the Youth Suicide Research Consortium (YSRC).
Key projects include interventions targeting Indigenous college women’s safety, mindfulness-moderated substance use, and resilience factors in trauma survivors. Dr. Cole mentors numerous graduate and undergraduate students, many of whom pursue careers in health equity research.
