Dr. Byczkowski's research centers on women's life writing from the French-speaking world, employing psychoanalytic and feminist frameworks to explore mother-daughter relationships and self-construction. Her work also extends to the cultural history of French colonialism in New France (present-day Canada) and Francophone literature and film. She is particularly interested in how cultural identities are formed and the role of bias in daily life.
Her recent publications demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach, merging literary theory, history, and psychoanalysis. These works examine deconstruction in modernist literature, the colonial history of New France with a focus on indigenous relations, and the intersection of psychoanalysis and medical trauma. This reflects a consistent engagement with identity, subjectivity, and the French-speaking world.
Dr. Byczkowski advises the French Program and serves on university committees, contributing to curriculum development and women's studies. While specific grant details are not provided, her active research and committee roles indicate ongoing scholarly engagement.
