Ashita Gupta is an Associate Lecturer and Doctoral Researcher at the University of Plymouth's School of Art, Design and Architecture (within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business). She specializes in participatory urbanism, gender-sensitive placemaking, and co-design, focusing on spatial justice, resilience, and sustainability. Her work bridges academia and industry, addressing urban challenges through multidisciplinary collaboration.
Her research explores living lab methodologies and digital placemaking, particularly in enhancing green/blue space governance. She collaborates with Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, and civic organizations on projects like the EU/ERDF-funded Green Minds: Living Lab and AHRC-funded Digital Seascapes and Make Space for BEES initiatives. She also contributes to the Digital Together project in Cornwall, promoting digital equity and community health.
Ashita holds a Local Pathways Fellowship (UN SDSN-Youth Initiative 2025 cohort), focusing on localizing SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). She received the Victoria Henshaw Prize (2021, University of Sheffield) for her work on gender-responsive frameworks for urban public spaces.
