Dr. Ashish H. Shah is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, and a Clinician-Scientist within the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at St. Boniface Hospital. He serves in the Section of Cardiology, where he conducts translational and clinical research focused on hemodynamics and outcomes in cardiovascular diseases.
His research expertise lies in invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic evaluation, particularly in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), exercise-induced pulmonary hypertension, and congenital-structural heart disease. Dr. Shah established the first invasive hemodynamic evaluation program in Western Canada at St. Boniface Hospital. His lab is pioneering the use of non-invasive technologies, such as total body impedance, to monitor hemodynamic changes and improve clinical decision-making. The overarching goal is to develop individualized, precision medicine pathways for cardiovascular care.
Dr. Shah’s research also explores the cellular mechanisms linking hemodynamic deterioration to multi-organ dysfunction, aiming to identify novel therapeutic targets. Although no publications are listed in the provided text, his work centers on clinical hemodynamics, cardiogenic shock, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), and outcomes research—indicating strong focus areas in interventional cardiology and translational physiology.
- Travel grants to present at international conferences (TCT, CRT, CSI-UCSF)
Dr. Shah actively contributes to medical education through the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Learning Centre, developing procedural learning modules. He has served as a peer reviewer for leading journals including Canadian Journal of Cardiology, European Heart Journal, and Annals of Internal Medicine. He has been invited as faculty at major international cardiology meetings. His innovative work includes a pending European patent for a radial hemostasis device (Application No.: US14/575,141), reflecting his commitment to BioDesign and clinical innovation.
His research team operates from the IH Asper Institute at St. Boniface Hospital, where they conduct studies aimed at improving patient outcomes through precision hemodynamic assessment and evidence-based clinical pathways.
