Asgeir Falch-Eriksen is an Associate Professor II at the Centre for Research on Discretion and Paternalism and a senior researcher at Oslo Metropolitan University. His work focuses on children’s rights, child protection systems, and the intersection of political theory, trust theory, and public administration. He holds a PhD in the study of professions from Oslo Metropolitan University and a Cand.polit. (Master’s) in Political Science from the University of Oslo.
His current projects include editing books on generational concepts, children’s participation, and modern citizenship in welfare states. He also contributes to research on the legitimacy of child protection decisions and the role of judicial practice guidelines. Falch-Eriksen’s research emphasizes empirical analysis of rights implementation at the ‘street level.’
Outside academia, he describes himself as a ‘digital monster,’ with four computer screens and minimal physical book usage. His interests include woodworking, US politics podcasts, and binge-watching TV shows like Star Trek and Yellowstone.
