Arwed Guderian

Arwed Guderian is a Professor in the Department of Textile Design at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Hof University of Applied Sciences, Münchberg campus. Appointed in March 2021, he teaches at the intersection of textile and product design with dedicated office hours on Tuesdays and active involvement in curriculum development.

He completed his studies in Fashion and Industrial Design at Hochschule für Künste in Bremen in 2007.

Professor Guderian's research spans Textile Design, Product Design, and Material Science with emphasis on future-oriented two- and three-dimensional applications. His work integrates color theory, spatial design, and material innovation, bridging traditional textile arts with contemporary product development while prioritizing functional and sustainable solutions.

His contributions to design have been recognized with notable honors:

• Inclusion in the permanent collection of Die Neue Sammlung, Munich (2023)

In academic leadership, Professor Guderian serves as Head of the Textile Design Master's program and Head of the Examination Board for the Textile Design Bachelor's program. He coordinates internships and provides comprehensive study program and portfolio counseling. His industry collaborations include major entities like E. Schoepf GmbH, Neues Museum Nürnberg, Novem Car Interior Design GmbH, and Puma.

Outside academia, he founded a multidisciplinary design studio in Munich in 2016 and maintains active participation as a juror in international design competitions.
