Arvin Dar

Arvin Dar serves as Adjunct Professor in Oncological Sciences and Pharmacological Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he is Associate Director of the Mount Sinai Center for Therapeutic Discovery and member of the Tisch Cancer Institute. His research integrates genetics and small molecule chemistry to develop therapeutics for cancer and neurological disorders through signal transduction studies.

Dr. Dar earned his BSc from the University of Western Ontario, PhD from the University of Toronto, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Francisco.

His laboratory employs interdisciplinary methods including synthetic organic chemistry, X-ray crystallography, and model organism genetics to target the Ras-MAPK pathway—one of the most frequently activated pathways in cancer biology. Current work focuses on developing novel small molecule modulators to overcome limitations of existing Ras pathway inhibitors, with applications in both oncology and neuroscience.

Dr. Dar mentors postdoctoral fellows Alex Scopton, Zaigham Khan, and Jayasudhan Yerabolu, along with graduate students Jia (Annie) Yu, Ryan Smith, Alexander Real, and Arthur Chow. His laboratory, located at Hess CSM Building (1470 Madison Ave, NY), operates within the Mount Sinai Center for Therapeutic Discovery framework and maintains active collaborations with the Tisch Cancer Institute for translational research in kinase inhibitor development.
