معرفی
Dr. Arto Maatta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University, specializing in epithelial cell biology and skin physiology. His research investigates cytoskeletal dynamics, cell adhesion mechanisms, and gene regulation in epithelial tissues, with particular focus on skin biology and hair follicle development. Current projects examine collagen secretion dynamics, skin aging mechanisms, and retinoid effects on epidermal regeneration.
Research encompasses:
- Live imaging of extracellular matrix formation
- Biomechanics of hair follicle structures
- Genetic basis of keratinization disorders
- Tissue-engineered skin models
- Pharmacological modulation of skin aging
Recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate methodological innovation in skin imaging techniques, quantitative analysis of aging phenotypes, and development of novel compounds targeting inflammaging. Current doctoral students investigate diverse aspects of skin biology including collagen network organization, cellular senescence, and epidermal barrier function under Dr. Maatta's supervision.
