Arti K. Rai is the Elvin R. Latty Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Center for Innovation Policy at Duke Law School. She is an internationally recognized expert in Intellectual Property Law, Biotechnology, Administrative Law, and Health Law, with research funded by NIH, NSF, Arnold Ventures, and other institutions.
Her work spans peer-reviewed journals like Science, New England Journal of Medicine, and Nature Biotechnology. Recent articles focus on AI challenges in patent law, biologics manufacturing patents, orphan drug policies, and data privacy in medical information commons. She has served in federal advisory roles, including the Department of Commerce and the National Academies’ Forum on Drug Discovery.
