Arthur J. Coury is a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University, with an affiliation in Bioengineering. He joined Northeastern in Spring 2014 and focuses on polymeric biomaterials for medical applications, including implantable electronics, hydrogel-based devices, and drug delivery systems. His research bridges biomolecular and biomedical materials with nanotechnology.
Education: PhD (1965) in Organic Chemistry from the University of Minnesota, MBA (1980) in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota, and BS (1962) in Chemistry from the University of Delaware. He is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society and American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, and a member of prestigious organizations such as the National Academy of Engineering.
Key awards include the 2023 Society for Biomaterials Award for Service and the 2022 ACS Rubber Division’s Bioelastomer Award.
