Arthur Hebard is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Florida, where he leads research in condensed matter experimental physics. He earned his PhD from Stanford University in 1971. His laboratory focuses on thin-film structures, exploring phenomena in superconductivity, magnetism, and nanoscale materials, with recent emphasis on molecular magnets and graphene heterostructures.
Research interests center on the fabrication and characterization of thin films, including metals, semiconductors, superconductors, and complex oxides. Current projects investigate single-molecule magnets integrated with 2D materials, charge density waves, and memristive switching in oxide interfaces. His work bridges fundamental physics with device applications in spintronics and renewable energy.
