Arthur G. Carlyle is a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Hartwick College. He holds a PhD from the University of Leeds (2021), an MA in Philosophy from the University of Kansas (2016), and a BA in Philosophy with a minor in Cognitive Science from Hartwick College (2014). His doctoral thesis, “A structuralist approach to animalism,” was supervised by Ellen Clarke, Helen Steward, and Steven French, with examiners Gregory Radick and Eric Olson. His research focuses on the philosophy of science (particularly biology), metaphysics (especially personal identity), and ethics, with an emphasis on how theories of identity intersect with scientific, medical, and practical human concerns.
