Kerry McKenzie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on the metaphysics of science, particularly the interplay between physics and metaphysics. Key areas include structural realism, fundamentality, and effective theories. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Leeds (2012), an MA in History and Philosophy of Science (Leeds, 2008), and a BA in Philosophy and Physics from the University of Oxford (2004).
McKenzie’s work critiques traditional metaphysical assumptions, advocating for a science-guided approach. His publications address anti-fundamentalism in particle physics, the role of symmetries, and the challenges of metaphysical progress. He has held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Calgary, and is a former President of the Society for the Metaphysics of Science.
