Andrea McKenzie is Professor of History at the University of Victoria (currently on leave), specializing in early modern British crime, legal culture, and conspiratorial politics. Her award-winning research includes studies on treason trials, execution narratives, and 17th-century manuscript cryptography.

Research Focus: McKenzie's work examines truth-construction in legal contexts, including the Popish Plot crisis and the death of Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey. Her current project analyzes anti-Catholicism and belief professions during moral panics.
Awards: Received the Surrency and Sutherland Prizes for her article on peine forte et dure practices in English law.
Teaching: Offers courses on Tudor-Stuart England, British crime history, and death/afterlife representations.
