معرفی
Prof. Dr. Arnold Boersma is an Associate Scientist at Utrecht University and a group leader at the DWI - Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials. His research focuses on synthetic biochemistry and biomolecular engineering, particularly in developing FRET-based protein probes and cell-like systems for applications in medicine, materials science, and diagnostics. Key areas include macromolecular crowding in cellular environments, ionic strength measurements, and protein self-organization.
- Education: PhD in Chemistry from the University of Groningen (2009), postdoctoral research at Oxford University with Prof. Hagan Bayley (2009–2012).
- Awards: ERC Consolidator Grant (2020), NWO Vidi (2016), KNCV Catalysis Prize (2011), Cum Laude distinction for thesis (2009).
His research explores novel probes for detecting cellular parameters, such as pH and crowding effects, with recent work on liposome-encapsulated systems and bacterial cell wall dynamics. Projects include the PArtCell initiative for drug screening and quantification of macromolecular crowding in living cells.
