Arno Villringer is a Professor of Cognitive Neurology at Leipzig University and Director of the Department of Neurology at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig. He holds leadership roles in institutions like the Berlin School of Mind and Brain and the Max Planck School of Cognition. His academic journey includes a Medical Doctorate from Albert Ludwig University Freiburg and a Habilitation in Neurology from Ludwig Maximilian University Munich. His research focuses on cognitive neurology, neuroimaging, stroke mechanisms, and obesity-related disorders. He leads large-scale initiatives such as the Competence Network Stroke and the Leipzig Research Center for Civilization Diseases (LIFE).
