Arno Villringer is a Professor of Cognitive Neurology at Leipzig University and Director of the Department of Neurology at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences. He also leads the Department of Cognitive Neurology at Leipzig University Hospital and is the Spokesperson of the Max Planck School of Cognition. His research focuses on Mind-Brain-Body interactions, neuroimaging techniques, and the neurological impacts of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. He has coordinated major initiatives like the German Competence Network Stroke and the Berlin NeuroImaging Center. Key achievements include awards such as the Gerhard Hess Prize and the Pater Leander Fischer Prize, along with adjunct professorships at international institutions.
- Education: MD and Habilitation from Albert Ludwig University Freiburg and Ludwig Maximilian University Munich.
- Leadership roles: Director of multiple institutes, including the Leipzig Research Center for Civilization Diseases.
