Arnkell Jonas Petersen

Arnkell Jonas Petersen serves as an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) in the Department of Building Engineering and Architecture. He also holds a Professor II position at the Oslo School of Design and Architecture (AHO) within the Department of Architecture's group for structures, materials and ecology.

With a background as a trained tinsmith and civil engineer in indoor climate and energy from Aalborg University, Petersen bridges practical craftsmanship with academic research. His expertise spans sustainability assessment, building energy performance, indoor environmental quality, and daylighting systems. He actively contributes to professional development in Norway and is recognized as a sought-after speaker on sustainable building practices.

Petersen has extensive involvement in international standardization, serving as chair of the ISO/TC 163 SC2 committee for standardized calculation methods for building energy performance from 2023-2029, and previously as a member of SN/K 34 Building energy performance since 2010. His work combines theoretical research with practical optimization of both large-scale and individual building projects across various development phases.
