Armine Ishkanian

Armine Ishkanian is a Professor of Social Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and the Executive Director of the Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity. She co-convenes the Politics of Inequality research programme at LSE's International Inequalities Institute. Her research focuses on civil society, democracy, social movements, and inequalities, with a regional focus on post-Soviet Eurasia, the Middle East, and Europe. Key projects include the Activism, Policy, and Transformation (APT) project analyzing movement influence on policy, and the AcPrac project examining academic-practitioner collaborations in inequalities research.

Her expertise spans civil society dynamics, neoliberalism's impact on social welfare, and the interplay between activism and policy. She has authored/co-authored influential works such as Democracy Building and Civil Society in Armenia and co-edited The Big Society Debate. Awards include the International Society for Third Sector Research Best Article Award (2015).
