معرفی
Armine Darbinyan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine. Her research focuses on understanding the effects of prenatal alcohol and drug exposure on neurodevelopmental outcomes, placental biology, and fetal brain development. She holds a Doctor of Medicine from Yerevan State Medical University (1985) and has received notable awards including the Joseph Schein Fellowship in Experimental Pathology (2014) and the Hilary Koprowski Lectureship Award (2004).
Her work integrates molecular pathology with clinical diagnostics, particularly in pediatric thyroid nodule evaluation and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). Recent studies investigate biomarkers in maternal blood for non-invasive prenatal testing and the role of exosomal miRNAs in neurodevelopment. She collaborates widely with researchers across obstetrics, genetics, and neuroscience.
- Key Research Themes: Prenatal exposures, neurodevelopmental disorders, placental biology, molecular diagnostics
- Clinical Focus: Pediatric pathology, neuropathology, thyroid disease
Dr. Darbinyan has published extensively on topics including oligodendrocyte differentiation in fetal alcohol exposure, serotonin transport in opioid-exposed placentas, and genetic syndromes involving CRELD1 mutations. Her work bridges basic science and clinical practice, with particular attention to translational applications for maternal-fetal health.
