معرفی
Dr. Armenia Franco Díaz is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research - Tropospheric Research (IMKTRO) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, since 2022. Previously, she held postdoctoral positions at the Institute of Geophysics, UNAM (Mexico) and the National Centre for Atmospheric Science, University of Reading (UK).
Her educational background:
- PhD in Atmosphere, Oceans and Climate, University of Reading, UK (2016-2020)
- MSc in Physics of the Atmosphere, UNAM, Mexico (2012-2015)
- Bachelor in Geophysical Engineering, UNAM, Mexico (2004-2012)
Dr. Franco Díaz's research focuses on Tropical Meteorology, Climate Variability, Teleconnections, and Extreme Weather and Climate Events, with particular emphasis on rainfall mechanisms, tropical cyclones, floods, and droughts in Middle America. Her work integrates observational data and reanalysis to understand regional climate processes.
Her publication record centers on tropical meteorology and extreme events, exemplified by her 2019 Climate Dynamics article analyzing tropical cyclones' role in Middle America's hydrological cycle. This reflects her methodological approach combining track analysis with atmospheric branch modeling.
She actively contributes to the Regional Climate and Weather Hazards group at IMKTRO, currently working on ClimXtreme Phase I (SEVERE project) and previously involved in the SEMANTICS project funded by the Met Office/Newton Fund.
