Dr. Armelle Blin-Rolland is a Lecturer in French and Francophone Studies at Bangor University's School of Arts, Culture and Language, where she has been since 2014. Her research focuses on French and Francophone ecocriticism, environmental humanities, and graphic narratives, particularly exploring intersections of ecology, postcolonialism, and gender. She has authored books, edited special journal issues, and secured grants such as the British Academy/Leverhulme Trust Small Grant (2023–2024) for her project 'Greening Modern Languages: Narrative, Space and Environmental Justice in Contemporary France'.
Education: PhD (2011), MA (2007) in European Languages and Cultures from Bangor University; BA in German (2005) from Université de Bretagne Occidentale.
Research Interests: Environmental violence, adaptation studies, bande dessinée, Breton Francophone comics, and decolonial ecologies. Current projects include developing EcoModLang, a platform for integrating environmental sustainability into language education, funded by Bangor University's Innovation Award (2023–2024).
Teaching: Undergraduate courses on ecocriticism, postcolonial France, and advanced French; postgraduate modules on critical theory and research methods.
Publications include over 20 peer-reviewed articles and chapters, with a focus on graphic narratives and environmental justice. Recent works analyze nuclear sites, factory farms, and ecofeminist perspectives in French and Francophone contexts.
