معرفی
Dr Aristides Tagalakis is a Research Professor in Gene Delivery and Nanomedicine at Edge Hill University and an Associate Professor at University College London. He specializes in non-viral and nanoparticle technologies for gene therapy targeting solid tumors, cystic fibrosis, glaucoma, and neurological/cardiovascular disorders. His research focuses on optimizing gene transfer methods, including silencing disease-related genes and gene repair/editing.
Education: PhD from The University of London. Professional Affiliations: Member of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy, Biochemical Society, and others. Editorial Roles: Serves on editorial boards of leading journals. Awards: Fellowships with the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Royal Society of Biology, and British Society for Nanomedicine.
Research Interests: Development of nanoparticle-based therapies, sustained-release drug implants, and innovative delivery systems for ocular and neurological diseases. Recent work includes alginate oligosaccharide-enhanced nanoparticle diffusion, 3D-printed glaucoma implants, and blood-brain barrier solutions for dementia.
Scientific Contributions: Over 90 peer-reviewed publications, including high-impact articles on siRNA delivery, lipid nanoparticles, and targeted gene therapy. Key collaborations span pharmaceutical formulation, nanomedicine, and clinical translation.
Advising: Supervises PhD projects on epigenetic changes in lung cancer and blood-brain barrier nanogel therapies. Research Centers: Involved with Edge Hill’s Biology Health Research Institute and Data Science STEM Research Centre.
