معرفی
Dr. Jiangbing Zhou is the Nixdorff-German Professor of Neurosurgery and Biomedical Engineering at Yale School of Medicine. He holds primary appointments in the Department of Neurosurgery and has affiliations with multiple Yale research centers including the Center for Brain & Mind Health, Developmental Therapeutics, Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program, Wu Tsai Institute, Yale Cancer Center, Yale Combined Program in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences, and Yale Stem Cell Center.
His educational background includes a PhD from Johns Hopkins University (2008), MS from Tsinghua University (2001), and BE from East China University of Science and Technology (1998). Prior to his current position, he served as an Associate Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University.
Dr. Zhou's research bridges materials science and medicine with a focus on developing novel therapeutic strategies for neurological diseases. His work spans four major areas: non-viral genome medicine, drug delivery to the brain, biology of brain cancer, and biomaterial synthesis and engineering. He has pioneered innovative approaches including nanoparticle design for gene delivery, brain-penetrating delivery systems that circumvent the blood-brain barrier, and cancer stem cell research in brain tumors. His laboratory has developed several breakthrough technologies including terpolymers for gene delivery, liposome-templated hydrogel nanoparticles for CRISPR/Cas9 delivery, and NP-free methodologies for genome editing machinery delivery to the brain.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong trend toward translational applications of nanomedicine for neurological disorders. His work increasingly focuses on brain tumor targeting, stroke therapy, and neurogenetic disease treatment with a particular emphasis on simplifying delivery systems while improving tissue specificity. The research shows progression from complex multi-component nanoparticles toward single-component and even nanoparticle-free delivery systems.
