Aris Vartholomaios

Aris Vartholomaios is an Assistant Professor of Urban Planning at the Department of Urban Planning, Spatial Planning and Regional Development Engineering (DUPRE) of the University of Thessaly (UT). He holds a BSc in Agricultural and Surveying Engineering from UT (2009), an MSc in Urban Planning from JCUD, Oxford Brookes University (2010), and a PhD in Environmental Urban Planning (2016) from the same department.

His research focuses on environmental urban design with emphasis on climate-responsive urban forms, microclimate analysis, energy efficiency, and the integration of digital technologies (GIS, ML/AI, simulations) in urban design processes. He has received international recognition through awards such as the Marie Curie Seal of Excellence and distinctions from Oxford Brookes University and the Hellenic Institute of Technology.

He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses across multiple institutions including the University of Thessaly, IAAC Barcelona, and other departments like TAM-UT and TPM-DiPaE. His teaching spans urban planning, spatial design, geodesy, and environmental design.
