Juliet Carpenter

Dr. Juliet Carpenter is a Reader in Housing and Urban Regeneration at the School of the Built Environment, Oxford Brookes University. Her research focuses on urban regeneration, community engagement, participatory planning, and European urban policy, with a particular emphasis on the French banlieue and sustainable development.

Her research interests include exploring innovative methods such as photovoice to understand marginalized communities, analyzing urban intervention strategies across Europe, and investigating co-creation practices in urban development. She has led projects such as the Marie Curie-funded study on urban regeneration governance and the AHRC Research Network on French suburban dynamics.

Dr. Carpenter has published extensively on topics including social sustainability in urban regeneration, comparative urban policy, and the role of the voluntary sector in integrated care systems. Her work highlights the importance of participatory approaches and equitable urban development.
