Arina Stoenescu

Arina Stoenescu serves as an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator at Södertörn University within the Department of Natural Sciences, Environment and Technology. She teaches media technology with a focus on typography and graphic design, believing that "good design makes a difference in our lives because design works with structure, function and aesthetics."

Her research centers on the relationship between typography and politics, particularly examining typographic practices in the daily press of Moldova and Romania during 1930-1990. She investigates how visual typographic landscapes communicated political messages during the communist era, with specific attention to the use of sans serif fonts in Romanian press and Cyrillic alphabet in Moldovan publications.

Arina is currently enrolled as a part-time PhD student at the University of Reading's Department of Typography and Graphic Communication, further developing her expertise in this specialized field. She expresses particular interest in children's culture and designing books that explore boundaries between textual and visual communication.
